ASHBEY PROPER & BRIGHAM PELO
WE’RE GETTING MARRIED!
On January 14, 2026
We will be sealed in the Auckland, New Zealand temple :)
We’re so grateful for your love and support! For those who have asked, we’ve put together a small registry here:
OUR STORY
OUR STORY
When we first met
Ashbey was a tennis player at Wasatch High School in Heber, UT. Brigham was living in Heber at the time and went with a friend to watch some of the matches. Brigham’s friend knew Ashbey and he introduced them there. Love at first sight if you ask Brigham. Ashbey, on the other hand, doesn’t even remember that day.

Our first kiss
Shortly after we met, we both turned 16 and Brigham asked Ashbey out. Our parents were hesitant about letting us “pair off,” so Ashbey’s mom paid a friend of Ashbey’s to come with us, and Brigham invited a friend to come too. We grabbed dinner and then watched a movie in Brigham’s basement. When the movie was over and we were still cuddling, our friends left and Brigham asked, “can I kiss you?” Ashbey accepted and we shared our first kiss. A teeny tiny peck, but it was perfect! Shout out to Jacie and Sam for reading the room;)

Our second first kiss
Just two days after our first kiss, Brigham moved back to NYC. Eventually, he moved back to Utah and we went to Prom together. Ashbey sort of ghosted Brigham for a while but he was persistent:) Brigham kept on trying. Almost two years after our first kiss, Ashbey finally admitted to her mutual feelings for Brigham. He took her to his family’s property in Midway where he played their song “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran and asked her to slow dance under the stars. That’s where we had our second first kiss!
We had two short flings over the years but never officially dated before we both served church missions. That led to over three years apart! Before Brigham left on his mission, he made only one promise to Ashbey; He said, “I will not get married until I know what it is like to officially date Ashbey Proper."

Our last first kiss :)
Fast forward to January of 2025. Brigham reached out just two days after Ashbey returned from her mission. He wanted to grab lunch and catch up. He claims his intention was to find closure, but the lunch went far too well for that. Although nothing came from it immediately, we were on each others minds again.
Come May, Brigham got several of his returned missionary friends (Ashbey included) together for a reflection on our spiritual journeys. When the evening was over, Ashbey hung out a bit longer and that turned into us staying up all night talking. We talked about nearly everything that could sum up over three years apart. After Ashbey expressed that she felt as though “our ship has sailed",” Brigham reminded her of the only promise that he made when he left for Liberia. “I will not get married until I know what it is like to officially date Ashbey Proper.” He then shared that he would regret not giving us one more chance. At that point, the sun was rising.
We decided to go on a sunrise hike and that led to more conversation about us. Ashbey eventually expressed her willingness to give us one more shot. But she made it clear that she doesn’t kiss until after the fifth date. Brigham told her that he’d taken her on way more than five dates! But she ensured he knew we were starting from square one. To make it short, Brigham took Ashbey on a lot of dates that week! In Portland, Oregon, just five days later, Brigham fulfilled his promise. We decided to date OFFICIALLY!

He put a ring on it!
A few months later, Ashbey went down to southern Utah for Brigham’s family reunion. Little did she know, Brigham had flown in a couple days early to talk with her parents. After a family dinner at the reunion, Brigham’s mother asked us to take a small gift over to the neighbors. Without thinking much of it, Ashbey gladly went along as she and Brigham walked over to his parents neighbor’s home. As they were approaching the home, we noticed the neighbors walking towards their helicopter. They kindly greeted us, accepted the gift, and then casually invited us to join them on their weekly flight around the area to check on their properties. We gladly accepted the offer and they flew us over to the Tuacahn Amphitheatre. They said they were waiting on someone so we were welcome to step out and walk around for a moment. Brigham asked the pilot’s wife to take a photo of us, and that’s when he got down on one knee!
